Rogue Hoe 7 Hoe/Rake on mobile An incredible fire fighting tool. I've found it to be a perfect balance between a Pulaski and the traditional McLeod for the soil and vegetation types in SE Louisiana. There is no such thing as the perfect tool for every circumstance, but this tool by design, is extremely close. One of the functions I enjoy is that it will stand up (handle up) while pausing to use a water pack to knock the fire back-and not having to lean the tool against me, find a tree to prop it or stoop to pick it up. Brilliant design and extremely versatile. It's a beast! And it plays well with others!

This is a tool for serious work. I bought this tool to scrape dry clay soil and it works great! Although smaller, it is slightly heavier than the traditional McLeod. The curved blade, curved handle, and weight make an effective tool when other tools are ineffective. . I find it often replaces my pulaski for removing vegetation. For lighter work I would choose my 55h as it is much lighter in weight. Rogue makes absolutely the best tools!

This tool makes trail building and clearing so much easier. The weight is great for cutting through roots and clearing brush. This thing is sharp. It moves the dirt easily. I am so pleased with it.

Im more impressed with the 70HR McLeod then I thought I would be. Out of the box; it was lighter than expected and was hoping it would be heavier. But after using it for a while; the weight is perfect. I got the 54in handle so having less weight on the head makes for an easier day. The sharpened hoe is impressive as well. It slices easily through moss and mud.

Works very well for cutting saplings and suckers up to 3in; clears an 8in wide patch of weeds easily; cuts and moves tumbleweeds without having to get close; moves a lot of dirt.

I got a few of these for our mountain bike club to test building trail and so far its two thumbs up. Folks want us to replace our lighter weight McLeods with these. The throw weight of this tool is hefty and the sharp edges slice through roots. The rake is great for grabbing brush. The hoe is good for digging. The tool also tamps well. My testers ash handle even stood up to being run over by the SWECO! I like wood handles myself; but others like fiberglass--the tool is available in both. We have the long handle and like the length; of course you could always cut the handle down if need be. As mentioned; the tool is on the heavy side but that adds to the durability. The hoe is not as wide as a standard McLeod and very narrow compared to a Lamberton Rake so dont throw those out just yet. The balance between the hoe and rake is off so the tool wants to shift around a bit in your hands--a firm grip is required. The handles are round but some sticky tape may help with the grip. Overall wed recommend this tool for your building arsenal and well be ordering more soon.

I have never used a more versatile fire fighting hand tool. This tool can grub mineral soil and rake fine fuels. The three sided blade is very effective at digging and can even be used to chop small trees. The broad head is large enough to smother embers and hot spots and I have even used it upside down as a writing surface for notes during a fire. I have noticed the blade material seems stronger; sharpens easier than a McCloed; and holds a sharp edge longer. The 3-sided blade could be a problem if you plan on hiking it unprotected over a shoulder. Well keep buying these.

I bought this and other Rogues to build bike trails. They work great and are the best tools for trail building deep in the woods.

This is a great substitute for a McCleod when building trail. It is slightly smaller and has cutting edge on 3 sides. Weve ordered 4 more; but going for the longer handle this time.
